The statistics surrounding child pornography are alarming.  An estimated 58% of children used in child pornography today are prepubescent and 6% are infants.  NCMEC is seeing an alarming trend in which victims are becoming younger and younger, and images are much more violent.

NCMEC is also seeing an increase in reports of online solicitation of children.  Reports of online enticement of children for sexual acts represented the second largest number of reports received on the
CyberTipline, and account for 5% of total leads received.  During last week alone, 268 reports of online enticement were received, compared to 72 reports during the same week last year.  An estimated 1 in 7 youth will receive a sexual solicitation over the Internet.   Source: http://www.missingkids.com/  ;To make a report CyberTipline

Another study found that, "the average number of victims for non-incestuous pedophiles who molest girls is 20; for pedophiles who prefer boys its 100". source...

Myspace dangers
The British police sting that busted a pedophile network Monday of more than 700 suspects in 35 countries stemmed in part from an ongoing U.S. investigation of "molestation on demand" that spanned several states here, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The worldwide pedophile operation involved the abuse of at least 31 young children, some who were photographed and others who were molested live on streaming video.

Parents in Lebanon received a lesson Tuesday night on how fast online sexual predators can target children. "I'm going to pose as a 13-year-old girl. I'm not going to initiate any conversation. I'm just going to respond to instant messages that are sent to me," said Detective James Grumbine before the demonstration. Within 25 minutes of entering the chat room, 11 people were discussing sex with the "13-year-old."
"It's pretty scary considering I only answered their questions I didn't initiate anything," Grumbine said.

The Investigators Find Sex Predators on MySpace One registered sex offender we talked to spent nearly two-and-a-half years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls, one under the age of 13. His profile is on the Sex Offender Internet Registry. He also has a profile on MySpace, the popular online hangout for teens.

Douglas Oates also has a MySpace page where he describes himself as sexy and looking for new relationships. But it was his relationship with a 9-year-old boy that got him listed on the Sex Offender Registry as a level three offender, the most serious.

Oates: "I never met nobody on this."
Hoffer: "What would you say to parents who have their kids go on MySpace?"
Oates: "I would say if anybody goes on MySpace make sure your kids are meeting the right person."

Sexual Predators Internet Surfing Runs High in Summer
The state's top cop is warning people that this is prime-time for internet predators.
It used to be a child predator had to visit playgrounds or hang around malls to find their victims. But now the attorney general says a predator is often welcomed right into your home via such sites as MySpace and Xanga and he warns surfing for sex goes high speed during the summer time.
